The Return of Donna Troy

In the current storylines seen in Wonder Woman and The Titans, Donna Troy has lived a great number of lives. Currently, we as readers do not know who she truly is. Is the young Wonder girl Donna Troy? Was Donna Troy the heroine Troia, then Darkstar? Was Donna Troy a goddess who defeated her son from an alternative time-line with the help of the Teen Titans from the future? Was she the woman who lost herself to an evil being by the name of Dark Angel? Was Donna Troy the puppet in the ultimate plan to kill Hippolyta?

John Byrne destroyed the character of Donna Troy when he took on the challenge of Wonder Woman following issue #100. Specifically, John Byrne has to add his "touch" to each comic he works on. The "touch" on Wonder Woman was killing Diana off; bringing Hippolyta into the mantle of Wonder Woman; transforming Hippolyta into the Golden Age Wonder Woman; and revamping Donna Troy's origin. This idea destroyed years of work by Marv Wolfman and George Perez.

Even the brilliance of Phil Jimenez wasn’t enough to stop the apparent killing of Donna Troy. By the hands of a Superman “robot,” Donna fought bravely to stop the destruction that it was causing. Having apparently defeated the “robot,” Donna was killed by a blast of heat vision. Superman SHOULD have destroyed the “robot” in the beginning, but had forgotten about it. Even Wonder Woman, in her infinite wisdom, forgave her best friend for destroying a portion of her soul.

We as fans of Donna Troy need to unite to resurrect Donna Troy from the limbo of the other dimension that she is so bravely fighting in. Even in this new life, Donna Troy is believed to be dead in the DC Universe. We need to unite to return Donna Troy to her greatness. Not only is she the heart of the founding Titans, but the heart of the DC Universe!
