Looney Tunes / Merrie Melodies on DVD

Warner Bros. has been associated with many classic films through the years -
Casablanca, Gone With The Wind, Singin' In The Rain, Citizen Kane, and The
Wizard Of Oz to name but a few.

Just as classic - and so acknowledged by film historians, scholarly
institutions, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences and the Library
of Congress - are the studio's library of animated cartoons. The Warner
Bros. Cartoons, the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies, are as famous and
beloved as the classic movies mentioned above - maybe more so.

And yet they haven't received the attention, and the restoration, that many
of these other films have received. We would like to change that. The
importance of preserving these classic cartoons cannot be understated. They
are a big part of our popular culture. The appeal of these cartoons span all
ages - from the young child watching them for the first time on Cartoon
Network to the older folks who remember seeing these cartoons in the theater.
We all grew up with them, laughed with them and recall the impact they had on
their lives.

We would like to make Warner Bros. aware that there is an extremely large
audience of consumers who would be interested in seeing the Looney Tunes and
Merrie Melodies restored and that there is a large block of adult consumers
willing to pay for collections of these cartoons on DVD.

Warner Bros. was the studio that stood behind the DVD format in its initial
launch period. By restoring these cartoons and releasing them properly on
DVD, they can help regain their position as the premier studio for DVD
releases.
