Toronto Day Nursery By-Laws

To:  City of Toronto Mayor and Councillors

This petition is to oppose the proposed new City of Toronto by-laws that would prevent any new daycares of more than 5 children (Day Nurseries) from being opened in single dwelling buildings in residential zoned areas. Toronto is already severely underserved by Day Nurseries and many parents are on long waiting lists with no guarantee of placement for their children. We need more childcare options in close proximity of our homes to encourage walking, biking and transit use, not additional restrictions in residential areas.

We the undersigned call on the City Councillors and Mayor to redraft the by-laws to encourage quality, regulated and inspected daycares within residential neighbourhoods.
