Patients before budgets

To:  Irish Government

We call on the Government and Management at Letterkenny General Hospital to reverse their proposal to close a 20-bed ward and to scale back the services provided in the Day Service Unit for a number of weeks in August. These unnecessary measures will affect patient care. We also seek that any cuts of this nature being prepared for other hospitals across Donegal not be implemented at this time or in the future.

This proposal if implemented will result in large scale lay offs and a reduction in the number of staff to assist us and our families during times of illness. Our neighbours and friends employed by the H.S.E. are committed to their task of providing a world class health service. We call upon the Minister for Health and the Management of the hospital to ensure that they are allowed to carry out this task unhindered.
