Sean Pertwee for Doctor Who |
To: British Broadcasting CorporationDear BBC,
I would like to ask that you strongly consider the actor Sean Pertwee (son of the late Jon Pertwee - the Third Doctor) as a replacement for David Tennant, in the part of the Doctor; now that David has announced he is leaving the show.
I believe Mr Pertwee has demonstrated from other roles that he certainly has the acting skills and experience both to carry story lines in a convincing way, as well as bring to the character a different flavour of edginess. I think it's the edginess that makes the Doctor so interesting - and sometimes (necessarily in my view) a little bit scary in his own right too. I feel that Mr Pertwee would be an excellent candidate to develop this aspect of the Doctor in a new direction.
Bearing in mind also that Mr Pertwee is the son of the actor who played the Third Doctor, I feel that this would open up a whole range of interesting retrospective story arcs. It would also provide a very resonant nostalgia element to the show for parents now watching the show with their own children, having watched Mr Pertwee's father Jon in the role when they were children themselves.
Please give Sean Pertwee your most serious consideration and find out if he would be interested in taking on the role,
Sincerely,
