End Disney's Sixty-Five Episode Policy

For years, The Walt Disney Company has had a strict policy that they have applied to all Disney television shows. Every show is to have exactly sixty-five episodes, accumulating to approximately three full seasons.

Many years have passed and many shows have come and gone, and this policy remains in tact despite countless protests. We, the people, the fellow viewers of Disney Channel shows, have decided to unite once more and make an attempt to set this policy to rest. We would like to protect future Disney shows from this sixty-five-episode ‘curse’ and request that each show have the individual freedom to decide its own fate.

Over the years, hundreds of thousands of fans have watched sadly as some of their favorite shows (and some of the best shows Disney has ever had) ended abruptly after season three, and then mysteriously vanished from the show lineup. Certain shows, such as Even Stevens and Lizzie McGuire, have aroused a particularly high number of protestors once they became victims of the sixty-five episode curse. We are all well aware that it will be almost impossible to revive those shows and continue filming episodes. It is an unrealistic request, and it is not the goal of this petition.

The goal that we hope to achieve here is to prevent future excellently written and developed Disney shows such as those just mentioned from airing only long enough to gain a respectable amount of viewers and a decent reputation. We would like to request that the Walt Disney Company eliminate the Sixty-Five Episode Policy and give all Disney shows their own independence to air as long as they would like. In turn, there would be far fewer disappointments for viewers, and Disney shows would get the opportunity to gain stunning respect and shine in a way they never have before.
