Farm Animal Welfare Initiative

To:  US Congress

We will gather 500,000 signatures to put pressure on the current administration to create a task force that will establish a federal code of regulations to govern the treatment of farm animals.
These regulations will address farming practices which cause pain or suffering to these animals and establish specific criteria regarding

1 Freedom of movement
2 Appropriate lighting
3 Ventilation
4 Temperature
5 Environmental conditions

They will use as a basis the findings from the "European Convention for the Protection of Animals Kept for Farming Purposes" and California's "Prevention of Farm Animal Cruelty Act."
