Reparations for Freeway Damages

Freeways have spread pollution, noise and accidental death across the world. Freeway pollution and noise increase the risk of developing asthma, cancer, hearing loss, and stress-related diseases. Freeways divide communities and cause pollution. They are a major environmental and health hazard.

Fifty years ago, we were ignorant about the dangers of freeways. Today, these problems are well known. Fifty years is enough.

We, the undersigned, call for more stringent regulation of the development of freeways, and of land around freeways.

* Monetary reparations to all people living next to freeways.

* No more new housing built next to freeways.

* Relocate schools built next to freeways.

* Mandatory air quality testing for businesses built next to freeways, with data available to the public, on the internat, with no fees.

* Reform freeway funding to encourage safety, health, and ecological protection.

We recognize that freeways are vital to commerce and our modern existence. We are only asking that urban planning be more sensitive to the danger of freeways, and that people who have suffered from freeways be compensated for their suffering.

(This petition is not directed at a specific freeway or government. It exists to highlight the issue of freeway pollution, proposes remedies, and show that there is public concern about the issue. Please sign it if you agree that with the ideas and remedies.)
