Fairwood CIP 2010

The Fairwood community of Bowie, MD worked hard for two years to get Fairwood Elementary School placed in the CIP budget and has continued to work diligently in the two years since to ensure the design of an exemplary school facility.

Now the County has changed the policy and process for getting our school built. As a result, instead of building this school as originally promised, to open August 2010, its opening is now delayed until August 2011.

We hereby formally petition Prince George’s County Schools, the Prince George’s County Council and the Prince George’s County Executive to provide the funding to complete the planning and design process from October 2008 through February 2009 and to advance the funding to begin both the construction bidding process and the actual construction process from March 2009 through June 2009 until the state formally approves construction funds for the school.

Completing the funding for the planning phase and temporarily funding the cost to start construction during this brief but critical period will allow the school to be built on schedule – to open August 2010.
