Online Petition in Demand of Immediate Release of Moulana Motiur Rahman Nizami

Dear All,
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullah WB.

This online petition is in demand of immediate release of our respected and honourable leader Moulana Motiur Rahman Nizami. He has been unjustly accused of so-called GATCO case.

He was a minister for 5 years and during that period he was in charge of two ministries- the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Industries. There was no allegation of corruption against him in so far as running the ministries are concerned. Out of the 150 million people of Bangladesh it will be difficult to find hundred people - fair minded, right thinking and without bias – who believe that Moulana Nizami was involved in corruption. It seems clear that the entire affair is totally politically motivated. The government has made a serious mistake which has spurred up unnecessary hatred amongst the people.

As citizens of a free, democratic country, we feel human rights in Bangladesh are totally under a threat and feel great resentment at the ill treatment of our respected leaders. We condemn government policy of threat and intimidation. We strongly oppose the oppression of innocent people in our country.

We urge the government to take immediate action for the release of Nizami, who is well reputed for his honesty, good conduct and selfless service for the country both in and out of office. Otherwise, the Democratic process would be hampered, people of Bangladesh would likely to resort to violence and chaos would prevail in the country. To prevent any undesirable situation, we demand his urgent release.
