Amend Georgia Mobile Device Restriction

To:  Georgia General Assembly, Georgia Lieutenant Governor and Georgia Governor

As residents of the State of Georgia, we, the Undersigned, respectfully submit the following Petition:

Whereas the use of wireless communication devices has been deemed dangerous by the current device usage restriction for school bus drivers in the state of Georgia,

And, whereas the use of wireless communication devices has contributed to an increase in the number of motor vehicle accidents in the state of Georgia,

And, whereas the increase in motor vehicle accidents has contributed to an increase in the cost of motor vehicle insurance for Georgia residents,

We direct the Georgia General Assembly to enact a bill to amend Code Section 40-6-241 of the Official Code of Georgia Annotated, relating to the proper use of radios and mobile telephones, so as to limit the use of all wireless communication devices by all drivers, regardless of residency, by requiring the use of hands-free devices that provide sound through one ear and allow surrounding sound to be heard with the other ear while operating a moving vehicle.
