to remove the blockade imposed on the people of Gaza unconditionally and to open all crossings into Gaza to ordinary aid and trade, based on the universal right of all human beings to have access to the necessities of life and to the means of continued survival, and on the absolute illegality of collective punishment.

Even criminals in prison are not denied food, medicine, or shelter; nor are they given these necessities only if they fulfill certain conditions—it would be illegal and inhumane to do so. And the 1.4 million residents of Gaza are certainly neither prisoners nor criminals; they are ordinary human beings who, like everyone else in the world, want to live, work, and send their children to school.

Removing the blockade is the right thing to do. It is the just thing to do. And may history record your individual and collective actions in response to this worldwide appeal.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
