Gibraltar Cat Welfare Society |
To: The Government of GibraltarThe Gibraltar Cat Welfare Society has been running a 'Snip a Stray' scheme for the last 18 months. So far we have neutered over 700 cats. These cats can easily be identified by their clipped ear, which allows the Cat Welfare Society to monitor the cat population without wiping them out completely.
Sadly, there are other people in Gibraltar that feel it necessary to destroy these valuable vermin controllers. The Cat Welfare Society feels that if this continues then within 5-10 years there will be no cats left on Gibraltar which will inevitably create health and hygiene issues with rats, mice and cockroaches.
The Cat Welfare Society is asking the Government of Gibraltar to make the neutered cats 'free citizens' of Gibraltar, protecting them from harm and allowing them to carry out their natural roles within the community of keeping rats, mice and cockroaches at bay.
This has already been done in Italy and we would like Gibraltar to follow suit in setting an example to the rest of Europe.
We urge the Goverment of Gibraltar to act now before it is too late.Sincerely,
