Jack Black Should Not Be Green Lantern! Don't Make the Green Lantern Movie a Comedy!

The proposed 'in development' Green Lantern movie is reported to be a "zany comedy" version of the character. This will demean the quality and dignity of a fictional character whose exploits have thrilled readers for decades! Hollywood has met with little success in doing superhero movies that treat their subjects in a 'campy' way, and the pursuit of this direction for a Green Lantern movie does the character (and his legions of fans) a great disservice.

Warner Bros., please reconsider this direction, and create a respectable but accessible superhero franchise, like X-Men or Spiderman, that the viewing public will embrace. A campy treatment of the character will alienate the fan base at the same time that, if the past holds true, it will undermine both the credibility and the long-term viability of the franchise.
