Stop Walgreens on Delaware Ave. in Buffalo, NY

To:  Officials of Walgreens and the City of Buffalo

We, the undersigned citizens, voters, and taxpayers of Buffalo, NY, oppose the destruction of an intact, authentically urban commercial block at Gates Circle to build a Walgreen's pharmacy.

We are satisfied that the neighborhood is adequately served by an existing drugstore one block away.

We argue that the rich architectural heritage, appealing pedestrian scale, and existing small businesses of Delaware Avenue will be irreparably damaged by the imposition of a out-of-scale, suburbanesque, big box retail store.

We demand that our elected and appointed officials block this assault on Buffalo's most historic boulevard and that Walgreens instead select one of our many "shovel ready sites."
