Allen County School Districts: Please Go Green

To:  Allen County School Districts

Consider the necessity of making our schools green. If you have noticed, there are efforts all around the country - even around the globe - to become more eco-friendly. While the school budgets are limited, the fact is that if the money is spent in making the school greener, then the budget may be able to go towards things students need.

Some examples of ways the school districts can go green:

Supporting environmental groups, such as Environment Evolved of Homestead High school
Buying products made of recycled materials
Persuading companies which the schools buy from to make their products out of recycled materials or create the products in a more efficient way
Using the used cooking oil in the schools to fuel the buses
Solar Paneling on the roofs
Compact fluorescent light bulbs in the rooms
Biodegradable lunch trays

In addition, student awareness of the issue of global warming and the necessity for a greener world is encouraged.

Consider this and consider the future of the schools, whether it shall lag behind in being green or overcome these difficulties.
