HD DVD to Blu-Ray trade in

To:  HD DVD and Blu-Ray alliance members

We, the undersigned, are early supporters of the High Definition home video formats. Despite a format war, we chose to purchase one or more HD DVDs. Regardless of the final outcome of the format war, it is the early adopters who foster interest and growth in emerging technologies.

Given the imminent victory of the Blu-Ray format over the HD DVD format, we are now left with movies in an orphaned format, effectively penalizing us for "choosing the wrong side." We believe it is unfair to force us to re-purchase the titles in Blu-Ray in order to unify our libraries.

We therefore demand that the studios show their appreciation for their early supporters by offering free or very heavily discounted trade-ins to the Blu-Ray format for titles previously purchased in HD DVD.
