Normalize Gaza - Egypt border

Dear Mr. Moussa,

We are quite heartened by your recent statement, praising the Palestinian “supporters who have endured hardship to deliver their message to the world and to express their objection to the harsh siege of Gaza [and who] deserve every support and appreciation,"

However it is ironic to note that had Egypt not acquiesced and abetted Israel in its shameful blockade, the heroic supporters of the Free Gaza Movement would not have needed to endure hardship to convey to the world the simple message that Palestinians are human beings and have a right to live a life of dignity and a life without privation and misery.

We therefore urge you to use your esteemed office to press upon Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak to lift the inhumane blockade of Gaza and immediately open Rafah to facilitate the unhindered passage of people and goods.

Opening the Rafah crossing will ease human suffering and normalize the Gaza-Egypt border. It will not relieve Israel of its responsibility as the occupying power. Israel has to meet its obligations under International law and still has to come to terms with Palestinians in historic Palestine and the Diaspora to secure a just peace and a dignified future for Israelis and Palestinians.

We all have responsibility to end oppression and reverse colonization. The failure of the International Community thus far to meet its responsibility regarding Israel is not an excuse for the Government of Egypt not to do its part.

لقد سعدنا بتصريحاتك التي تعبر عن ترحيبك بسفينتي كسر الحصار الإسرائيلي الخانق على قطاع غزة و تاييدك للناشطين الدوليين الذين قامو بكسر الحصار كما نشكر لك تقديرك للمتاعب التي واجهوها ليبلغوا العالم ضرورة كسر هذا الحصار الذي ينتهك قواعد القانون الدولي الإنساني.

و لكن من المحزن أن ننوه بانه لو لم تكن الحكومه المصريه قد اذعننت و تعاونت مع اسرائيل في حصارها المهين لقطاع غزه لما كان هناك داع لان يتحمل الناشطين الابطال كل هذه المتاعب و الصعاب لكي ينقلوا الي المجتمع الدولي رساله بسيطه عن حق الشعب الفاسطيني في حياه أدميه كريمه دون كل هذا الحرمان و كل هذه المعاناه.

ولذلك فنحن نهيب بسيادتكم إستخدام مركزكم المرموق لحث الرئيس المصرى حسنى مبارك الى رفع الحصار الخانق لقطاع غزة و فتح معابر رفح لتسهيل العبور الآمن للأفراد و البضائع.

إن فتح معابر رفح سوف يخفف من عناء الفلسطينيون ويعيد حدود مصر و غزة لحالتها الطبيعية ولكن هذا لن يعفى اسرائيل من تحمل مسوءوليتها كدوله محتله إذ يجب عليها أن توفى التزاماتها تجاه القوانين الدوليه و تعمل فى نفس الوقت إلى إتفاق عادل مع جميع الفلسطينيين لضمان حقوقهم المشروعه لأن ذلك هو الطريق الوحيد للسلام العادل و لضمان مستقبل الفلسطينيين و الأسرائيليين
وإن علينا جميعا تحمل مسوءولية إنهاء الظلم و ألقضاء على الاستعمار فى كل أنحاء العالم
وإن فشل المجتمع الدولى فى تحمل مسوءوليته تجاه تعنت اسرائيل لا يعفى الحكومة المصريه من أداء واجباتها ورفع الحصار

نحن نتطلع من سيادتكم ردا إيحابيا لهذا النداء.
