Mountain bike access to the Sea to Sea Green Blue Belt (Harbourview)

To:  CRD Parks Board

There is potential for a large park near Sooke on Vancouver Island B.C. to open as a large multi-use area. The Capital Regional District (CRD) is currently creating a management plan for the "Sea to Sea Green Blue Belt” however, there is a good chance that mountain bikers will be restricted to a very limited area of the park. There is no research indicating that mountain bikers should be restricted. The South Island Mountain Bike Society cannot support these restrictions and we need your help to voice our opinion. The CRD advisory board has no representation from mountain bikers and we need to let them know that we want complete access.
We need to let the CRD know that we will not tolerate these restrictions before the plan is approved.
Act now before it’s too late! By signing this petition you will help us let the CRD know:
• I want to ride in the entire area the Sea to Sea has to offer.
• If hikers are allowed, Mountain bikes should be too.
• Mountain bikers cherish the opportunity to explore natural settings under their own power. Backcountry areas are extremely important to our community.
