Dear Professor Gelburd,

We, the students of MGMT 230, believe strongly in our right to observe one of the most well-known and followed Penn traditions: Hey Day. This day symbolizes the rising of Juniors to Seniors, and is a highly anticipated event every year. Unfortunately, the scheduling of classes pushed Hey Day from the usual last Friday of classes to a Tuesday this year, Tuesday April 29th, which conflicts with many normally scheduled Wharton classes including our MGMT 230 class.

The schedule for Hey Day 2008 is...
12:00-3:00pm Picnic on Hill Field
3:15-4:00pm Class Procession
4:00-4:10pm Hey Day Ceremony at College Hall

Professors have been lenient in light of this circumstance, which failed to meet the attention of Penn administrators, and we are very disappointed that we will be presenting on this day instead of observing this tradition which has been in place since 1872. Hundreds of thousands of students have participated in Hey Day before us, and since our class is comprised mostlyof juniors and seniors, we feel strongly that a revision must be made.

We believe that the 2 best options are to either
1. Present on Thursday May 1st instead of Tuesday April 29th OR
2. Fit 5 presentations per day in the first week by extending class a few minutes each period or reserving another classroom.

No matter what the final decision, we are willing to compromise in order to observe this tradition.

We thank you for your willingness to listen to our concerns and hope that you will understand our desire to follow in the footsteps of many Penn students before us. We have had a thoroughly enjoyable semester and want to end the class on a great note!
