HONORARY OSCAR TO BE AWARDED TO JAMES DEAN

To:  Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences

This petition is in favor of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awarding an honorary Oscar to actor James Dean for his continuing contribution to the art of motion pictures at the 2005 Academy Awards program.

The award would be given on the 50th anniversary of James Dean's success as an actor for his contribution to film with the motion pictures "East of Eden", "Rebel Without A Cause", and "Giant". Also, for his enduring legacy and continuing contribution to the art of motion pictures, as one of the true legends of film.

It is suggested that the award be presented by his cousin Marcus Winslow Jr., with whom James Dean grew up in Fairmount, Indiana.

All those in favor of seeing a special film clip presentation and awarding of the honorary Oscar to Mr. Dean at the 2005 Academy Awards program should please sign this petition.
