RCA Has Failed Justin Guarini

The purpose of this Petition is to protest the mistreatment of Justin Guarini by RCA and 19 Management, the U.K.-based multimedia giant behind American Idol. Justin captured the hearts and minds of the nation with mesmerizingly soulful performances on the Fox series, AMERICAN IDOL. Millions tuned in every week to see him perform, making it the #1 show in the history of Fox network and the #1 show that year overall!

Although he was runner-up, he is still a winner in many circles! Justin's positive and gracious attitude lifted us above it all, and taught us something in the process. how to be a real, caring human being, with integrity and humility!

Since then, Justin co-starred in the movie "From Justin to Kelly," which didn't do well commercially at the box office, but he proved he has the potential of being the ultimate triple threat and a Superstar in the making! He has also appeared on many TV shows, on Oprah, Leno, co-hosting Regis & Kelly, Wayne Brady, The View, The Tom Green Show, TRL, and appeared in concerts all across the United States, his performances have been first rate. The man is a natural talent with amazing charisma; Justin has it all and does it with class and style. Even Simon Cowell, (AI judge) had to admit that Justin is a 'great, great performer'!

That is why Justin Guarini's fans are very shocked and disheartened by the fact that his awesome debut CD, released June 10h, has not been effectively promoted and marketed! Now, rumor has it that RCA, has "dropped" Justin instead of supporting him, which is destroying his reputation as a new artist!

His CD Sales were about 140,000 units thus far with absolutely NONE of the RCA assistance that Clay, Kelly and now Ruben were provided; i.e., NO VIDEO counterpart for his popular single "Sorry" and NO promotional push for radio play! It's important to mention that Justin Guarini has made a truly solid album full of excellent ballads and mid-tempo head-nodders, well-produced, well-arranged. Babyface and the Underdogs produced about half of the album, Brian McKnight penned a song along with Justin Timberlake, Carol Bayer Sager, Wade Robson, were all part of the creative team for this album, and it shows!

Recently, reporters asked Aretha Franklin, winner of 8 grammy awards, her take on modern methods of breaking into music. "You have radio stations in this country that actually make or break an artists," said Franklin. "Out of NY, out of Detroit, Washington and places like that. But certainly the video is all too important in enhancing the sales."

Why did RCA promise Justin a video and then not deliver, after it had been reported in the media, disappointing not only Justin, but thousands of his fans? Why is he the ONLY American Idol who got a recording contract with RCA, but who DID NOT get a Video, does one have to sell a million CDs to qualify for a video? Obviously, the video greatly increases CD sales as everyone knows so isn't it to RCA's advantage to promote Justin's CD rather than stifle it?

Can you imagine what sales would be if RCA did their job. In other words, any problem that RCA has with Justin's CD sales is their own fault, so, in actuality, they're complaining about themselves! This needs to come to the attention of the general public to know how unfair they've been, especially with the biggest talent to come around in decades, Justin Guarini ! Sting, the writer had this to say, "The Idol franchise is a machine. The ceiling seems invisible. Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken are already platinum. Ruben is sure to follow. Justin Guarini is a lesson learned. It took waaaay too long to get his album out and it wasn’t promoted worth a darn. He’ll be okay."

Hopefully, when this information comes out, it should hurt RCA's reputation, so the best artists will hesitate to sign with them. More importantly, however, it will boost Justin's positioning in the negotiations! Does RCA think nobody will learn of its neglect and mistreatment of Justin? When word gets out, Justin should gain support from others who hadn't known of this abuse!

Yes, "He'll be okay", but only, if WE speak out against this injustice now! If you would like to show your support for Justin, if you agree that he has not been treated fairly by RCA who has failed to promote his cd and now wants to "drop" him without just cause, which in turn is hurting his reputation, Please sign this petition.
