STOP Norwegian Whaling! |
To: The Norwegian GovernmentNorway kills more than 600 minke whales a year!
The whaling directly undermines the authority of the International Whaling Commission (IWC)(http://www.greenpeace.org/international/campaigns/oceans/whaling/norwegian-whaling), and even though the government claims to kill the whales in a humane matter, this is very much a lie. Indeed, it has improved through the years, but not nearly enough(http://whales7.tripod.com/policies/methods.html)
Norway also claims that a partly reason for the whale killing is tradition. The whale meat consumption is a traditional part of the Norwegian every-day diet. No Norwegians I know have EVER eaten whale meat!
It has also been stated that Norway kills whales as they eat too much fish, and therefore ruins Norway’s fishing traditions. The truth is that over fishing does much more damage than a hungry whale (http://www.greenpeace.org/international/campaigns/oceans/whaling/great-whale-trail/fundraising-kit/whaling-myths)
Please STOP this cruel, inhumane and unnecessary ‘tradition’ of Norwegian culture!Sincerely,
