Secure The Borders of Iraq |
To: To: The Coalition Provisional Authority and the Iraqi Governing CouncilA Petition to Close the Iraqi Borders to all non-Iraqi Nationals
In light of the recent murderous acts perpetrated against the Iraqi people, we would like to urge the CPA and the IGC to close all the borders of Iraq to non-Iraqi nationals. In addition, we urge the CPA and the IGC to expel all suspected non-Iraqi individuals who have ties or affiliations with terrorist and extremist organizations such as Al-Qaeda.
These extreme measures have become necessary not only to stop these acts of murder against innocent people, but also to ensure the safe and stable transition towards a true democracy in Iraq. These foreign elements are determined to incite civil war in Iraq, as it has become evident by the attacks on the Kurds in Arbil and now on Shia’a in the holly shrines of Karbala and Kadhimia. We believe that these measures are the only way to stop the flow of these elements into Iraq during this volatile period.
The will of the Iraqi people will not succumb to these thugs and we are determined in our resolve to establish a lasting democracy in our beloved Iraq. These criminals are, and will continue to be an obstacle on the road towards this goal. The closure of the borders will reduce the inflow of personnel and other resources, which are fueling these criminals inside Iraq. Securing the boarders will de-fang these snakes and will allow the Iraqi forces to hunt them and bring them to justice.
We the undersigned respectfully call for these temporary measures to secure all borders and expel suspects to prevent terrorists from entering and committing these heinous acts against the people of Iraq. These measures can and should be lifted once hostilities have stopped and the attacks against innocent men, women and children have subsided.
Sincerely,
