Something Inside: Jonathan Rhys Meyers Original Album

Jonathan Rhys Meyers is not only a beautifully talented actor, but he is an amazing singer as well. Being a self taught guitarist and singer, it is rumored that Jonathan has always felt regretful for not pursuing a musical career. True or not, fans of Jonathan will have to agree that the man is definitely musically inclined.

Over the years, Jonathan has expressed his musical aptitude by show casing his craft in television and film. From flute and guitar playing to singing and rocking out, Mr. Meyers is a true talent.

His break out role as Brian Slade in Velvet Goldmine; gave Jonathan the opportunity to show case his vocal skills on the official tracks - "Baby's On Fire" and "Tumbling". Though Jonathan did in fact record his own rendition of - the "Ballad of Maxwell Demon", his version was not released on the official soundtrack.

Nearly ten years after the release of Velvet Goldmine, Jonathan recorded four songs on the Sony Panasonic label for the soundtrack to the 2007 family film "August Rush".

1.) Moondance
2.) Break
3.) Something Inside
4.) This Time

Of the four, "This Time" and "Break" were considered in the Best Original Song category of the 80th Academy Awards.

Better yet, "This Time" was not released as a single but peaked at #84 on the Canadian Hot 100.



Though Jonathan Rhys Meyers has obtained wide spread fame through acting by accepting and characterizing memorable roles; we must not forget that Jonathan was born into a family of musicians.

He can not deny his natural talent, and nor can we.

Please help to spread the word of this man's soulful talent. Jonathan has a truly unique sound. His style is not manufactured or typical of today's music. It's soulful, genuine and refreshing - all of which I consider to be an attribute of his musical talent.

I don't want to see Jonathan cross the line and attempt to become a pop-rock icon. Nor do I want him to neglect his craft as an actor. All I ask is that fans show case their support and favor of his music and sound. Many actors drop albums just for the experience of it. With Jonathan, it's assured that we would be given a gift.


If it's true that Jonathan has always wanted to pursue a career in the music industry, then let him hear our voice. Let him see that such a dream would not go unappreciated by his fans.

The intent of this petition is to inspire and encourage Jonathan to seriously consider the release of an "original" album.
