Stop MTV Blacklisting of Music Icon Janet Jackson

To:  American Press

If you haven’t figured out yet, MTV is once again refusing to support its first ICON, Janet Jackson, due to the two year old super bowl mishap. As music lovers, we find this very offensive because Janet Jackson and the Jackson family are landmarks in African American history, pop culture, and American History as a whole. 20 Years Ago, Janet Jackson was among the pioneering artist, that helped make the music video what it is today, and consequently helped make MTV the international music superpower it currently is.

Equally disturbing, it seems as if MTV has returned to its racist roots, because lets not forget, before the Jackson family and the “Thriller” video, it basically refused to play black artist, and now it refuses to support Janet Jackson, but unapologetically supports Justin Timberlake who was also involved in the super bowl. This is also a slap in the face of black America, whose hip hop culture MTV has “pimped” for more than a decade for millions in profits.

To add further insult to injury, MTV, a channel that has shoved such musical travesties, as the Spice Girls, Vanilla Ice, the Simpson sisters, and Britney Spears, now claims that the reason it isn’t supporting the song, which was produced by the industry’s top producer, Jermaine Dupri and legends Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, is because of its quality. This is completely laughable at best considering the song is already a major R&B hit, and is currently in the top 25 across the country.

Please join us, in signing this petition to stop this horrible and unjust blacklisting, of one of the music industry’s most accomplished and legendary artist.

The Unstoppable fans of Janet…

Sincerely,

The Undersigned
