Bring Back Jim Ross to WWE RAW |
To: WWE CorporateDear World Wrestling Entertainment,
As you may or may not know, Jim Ross is not just the voice of Monday Night RAW to a lot of individuals who tune in to watch your show every week. To many people, especially those viewers who are in the younger generations of wrestling fans, Jim Ross the THE voice of wrestling. If you look back over the past ten years, you will see that no matter who you paired Jim Ross with, be it The King, Paul Heyman, Jonathon Coachman, or any other person who has at one point served as color commentator, you will see that Jim Ross has been able to find his niché. He is not only the person whom many people associate with the voice of wrestling, he is perhaps one of the most beloved announcers of all time, spanning all sports. No matter what state he is in, Jim Ross is always on the recieving end of a rather large ovation whenever his music hits and he walks out from the back to take his spot at the announcer's table. Jim Ross is also probably one of the few people who knows what he is talking about, knows how to talk about it, and keeps the foucs on the match. There are countless times where I have been watching a match, and either The King or Coach are off talking about something irrelevant to the match, and it is Jim Ross who brings the focus back to what is going on in the ring. Jim Ross is far too talented to just be swept away under the rug like this, he has too much talent and too much of a following.
We do, however, understand your desire to replace Jim Ross with someone who is more photogenic and a bit younger. We know that wrestling is a business, a business based on image even, but people don't exactly tune in to watch RAW to stare at the announcers, we watch RAW for the wrestling and the women. Replacing Jim Ross with someone younger and less talented, as well as less knowledgeable, will only serve to be detrimental in the end. You have proof of this if you simply look back a few years to when JR was 'set on fire' by Kane, and was not at the Announcer's table for quite some time. It was during this time that you had both Coach and The King doing commentary, much like you have done now. Did you forget how awkward and choppy the comentary was during that time? Yes, Coach is talented, and Jerry Lawler is talented, but the person who brings everything together and makes listening to commentary enjoyable is Jim Ross. If Ross is not brought back to the Announcer's table, I think you will find that there will be people watching RAW on mute, or not at all.
In conclusion, I would just like to say that it is understandable to want to change things, to try to find a new combination that works, to try to find younger talent so we have great commentary for years to come. It is not wise, however, to just pull the most recognized voice in wrestling from the Announcer's table without warning, and just expect people to adapt to two people who really depended on Jim Ross's natural ability to control the flow of commentary. I am not saying that Jim Ross has to stay forever, I am just saying that he is still the most talented announcer in the business, and you are wasting him by not using him. Please bring back Good Ol' JR, the fans love him and we already miss him!Sincerely,
