Stop hate journalism

To:  Editor, Hindu & Frontline

Dear Sir

We the petitioners have been regular readers of The Hindu and The
Frontline in which your disturbing stories against Indian Muslims
regularly appear. Many of us tried to respond your stories but in
vain. Your one sided terror news hunting focusing Muslim organizations
and groups with exaggerated and altered facts have provoked anti
Muslim sentiments among majority population and confused millions of
youths. As a journalist of a respected news paper group The Hindu, we
were waiting that you might take notice recently exposed Hindu right
wing terrorist groups like Abhinav Bhart ones. Unfortunately you tried
to cover up Hindu terrorism in your reporting on Malegaon blast.

We waited for your demonstration of fair journalism till Goa blast
which never came. We are well aware that you have been funded by the
right wing think tank of the United States United States’ Institute of
Peace (USIP) during 2004-2005 which requires you to follow up ‘Islamic
Terrorism’ and you successfully done your job with attaching yourself
with an esteemed news paper like The Hindu.

You better know that Indian media’s reporting on terrorism have caused
unnecessary sense of insecurity among Muslim youths and provoked
police and majority population to suspect every Muslim name of
individuals and organizations. You also know that progress of this
beloved country is not possible without inclusion of Muslim society in
the main steam of socio-economic development of the country. Sachhar
report and many other reports have proved that Muslim community left
behind in the shining India. Witch hunting of educated Muslim youth on
the basis of provocative reports by you have further worsened the
matter.

After the majority population has been successfully misguided by
journalists, they should know why terrorism didn’t stop even after
street shoot outs inside Muslim localities. Why you are shying to
inform the country about the hateful and nefarious ideology of Hindu
right wing forces who have distributed million of anti Muslim books,
pamphlets, CDs and other materials through out the country. Your well
thought negligence of Malegaon, Goa, Nanded and Kanpur blast and the
Hindu terrorist organizations has damaged your credibility as a
professional journalist.

We through this mass appeal request you to stop hate journalism
against Indian Muslims and start a fair and responsible journalism so
that countrymen know that terrorism is not an Islamic phenomenon and
that we all need to correct our homes-Hindus as well as Muslims.
