Save the Knowland Park open space!

To:  Oakland City Council, Oakland Zoo Management, East Bay Zoological Society

We, the undersigned, object to the Oakland Zoo’s development plans for Knowland Park open space as currently configured. We urge the Zoo to modify its plans so that its expansion and development occurs in open areas more proximal to the existing zoo and in the expanded area to the west below the ridgeline visible from upper Knowland Park.

Further, we urge that the City of Oakland restore the previous Resources Conservation Area zoning for the area east of the ridgeline proposed for development so that this spectacular open space will be preserved for future generations of people and wildlife to enjoy freely.
