The Hindus in Kazakhstan are facing a terrible time because the Kazakh government has destroyed their homes & belongings, & thus they have been thrown to the streets at this time of the year, in winter when temperatures stay below 0 degrees almost all of the time.
The minority Hindus had bought some land about 5 years ago & built homes on them, however the present day price of this land has gone up so the local authorities have made up a legal discrepancy in the original contract & on this basis want to get rid of these people & resell the land at a higher price & make good profits & simultaneously subdue the Hindu religion in the country.
13 out of 66 homes have been destroyed so far just outside the city of Almaty.
USCIRF condemns the action of the Kazakh government & UK has also supported the cause of the Hindus.
In London, some 10,000 members of Britains Hindu community protested the demolition of the Hindu property in Kazakhstan.
We want the Kazakhstan government and the Kazakh President to take immediate action against this very serious violation of human rights and respect the universal right to freedom of religion & belief, rectify the situation & provide for the homeless, innocent people.
