Off-Road Events in the Sportsman's Paradise

By my signature, I hereby support the efforts of Louisiana 4x4 and off-road enthusiasts across the state to amend Louisiana law to extend liability protection to off-road events involving vehicles weighing more than the currently protected 1,500 lb. weight limit.

As the owner of a Jeep, SUV or truck, Louisiana's varied landscape provides a variety of spectacular travel destinations for organized off-road events. However, the inability of organizations to obtain affordable liability insurance within Louisiana has essentially removed the entire state from the list of possibilities when organizing an off-road event.

Currently, off-road organizations and enthusiasts throughout the south travel to Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee due to the ease of obtaining liability coverage in those states. By amending Louisiana's law to include liability protection for vehicles over 1,500 lbs., Louisiana will once again become a travel destination for off-road organizations. Your support will impact off-road enthusiasts within Louisiana and surrounding states as well as the local communities which will realize significant benefits from increased tourism.

This amendment represents the first crucial step in returning Louisiana to the list of travel destinations for off-road events by reducing the exorbitant insurance premiums required for events held within Louisiana. I fully support this amendment and ask that you do the same.
