Yes, what you read is 100\% true but first let me explain a little about Sam and Max.
“Sam and Max Hit the Road” was a game that was released in 1993 using the Lucas Arts SCUMM engine. You play Sam, a full-grown giant dog whose sarcasm is just as strong as his bit. Max is descried as a “rabbity thingy” and is also Sam’s confidant. As Max you follow Sam around to help with your missions to find the missing Bigfoot. Sam and Max hit the road is easily recognized as one of the best adventure games of all time.
Recently adventure gaming has been in a massive rut. This rut has been an ongoing hole since 1999. The hole just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Last year (5/12/03) Sam and Max 2 Freelance Police was announced. This announcement gave adventure gamers hope all over the world. Last year Full throttle was announced as well. This also gave people hope that the adventure game industry is coming back together. But, early in November “Full Throttle 2” was canceled. The world of adventure gaming was let down once again, but we still had hope. That is until this morning, Wednesday March 3rd when Lucas Arts reviled the cancellation of Sam and Max 2 Freelance Police.
The official press release said this "After careful evaluation of current market place realities and underlying economic considerations, we've decided that this was not the appropriate time to launch a graphic adventure on the PC" this above line in easier terms means “we don’t think anyone’s going to buy our game because it’s an adventure game and adventure games are dead”
The point of this petition is to let Lucas Arts know that there is need for Sam and Max 2. That people are willing to play their game. The game has had people “drooling” all over the world. The press has been going crazy for inside information on the game and with the information they received it makes them crave for more. Thousands of people have been waiting for just a glimpse of the game at this years upcoming E3. If you are an adventure gamer then please sign the petition, it is something that the adventure gamers need, it is something that any gamer would want. Even if you not an adventure gamers just take it into consideration. Sam and Max is a game that is for everyone, no matter what type of gamer you are. I guarantee that you will love this game from start to finish.
