Petition to name Element 118 "Livermoron" |
To: Lawrence Livermore National LaboratoryWhereas, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, in conjunction with the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in Dubna, Russia, has created the heaviest element ever known to man, element 118,
Whereas, this element is still bereft of an official scientific name,
Whereas, the element lies on the Periodic Table just below the inert gases Helium (He), Neon (Ne), Argon (Ar), Krypton (Kr), Xenon (Xe), and Radon (Rn), and
Whereas, the words "liver" and "moron" are funny,
We hereby propose that the new element be named "Livermoron (Lm)."Sincerely,
