Motocross Track for the Lothians

With the increasing popularity of the sport of Motocross, a need has been identified for a Motocross track in the Lothians. Currently no such facility exists and enthusiasts find it necessary to use unofficial tracks on parts of what could best be described as waste land. Obviously, this is not ideal since this can be both against the law and potentially dangerous.

We would therefore like you to consider the construction of a Motocross track to take this sport from the streets and in to a more organised area. This will have the effect of minimising the disruption to private lands, removing the possibility of accidents on public roads and prevent the criminalisation of those out to enjoy what would otherwise be a lawful pursuit. It is worth noting that there are many teenagers who develop an interest in motorcycles, and Motocross in particular, so having an area set aside for it may prevent inadvertent lawbreaking or, as in at least four incidents in the past few years, accidental deaths.
