To one and all of my fellow Americans!
I propose the following as either the utilization of the remaining Stimulus Package Funds (currently estimated at $250 Billion dollars) or another option explained shortly.
I am confident that another round of Legislation or utilization of the Stimulus Package Funds in this manner will boost the economy significantly over the next 4 months, if not longer. I propose that Legislation be passed that suspends mortgage payments November 2009 through January 2010 - with normal mortgage payments restarting February 2010. This will bring significant relief to those Americans who are currently trying to figure out how to pay their next mortgage payment, give some an opportunity to "catch up" on missed payments and perhaps more importantly pump some of that money into the economy as we approach and go through the Christmas Season. This will also give banks more time to assist people in figuring out what their next step should be. In addition to the above, all bank fees related to these "suspended payments" will be stopped for the same period. If the Stimulus Package Funds are not to be used for this, then banks can merely add the 4 months of payments on the backend of each loan. Since the Stimulus Package Funding is assisting the financial markets more than the American public - this suggestion would be equal to the Cash for Clunkers Program but it would be spread across a much greater area - even all of America. While the mortgage industry my cry “bad form” or “foul”, they will still get their money one way or another, yet the biggest benefit would be directly to the American people.
The name of this “Bill” or plan is Mortgage Appreciation Plan or MAP.
I implore every American (in need or not) to support this position and let’s get it to our State Senators as soon as possible, as time is running out!
