- We call on Belgian railway operator NMBS to continue its regular train service between Brussels and Maastricht; to abandon plans to discontinue this service from 2012; and to ensure that all trains, including those with delays, complete their journey to Maastricht instead of stopping at the Dutch-Belgian border near Vise.

- The Maastricht Brussels Express has proven itself in recent years as a valuable service for the international community in and around Maastricht and Brussels.

- To encourage the NMBS to continue the Maastricht Brussels Express service, we urge the regional and national Dutch and Belgian authorities, the city of Maastricht, the Dutch railway operator NS, Maastricht University, the European institutions and railway unions in Wallonia to adopt a constructive attitude in which travellers' interests are the main priority.
