We, the students of George Mason University, feel that the administration of George Mason University is causing the Rathskeller to lose substantial amounts of money from the George Mason University students by limiting them to only selling beer and not allowing them to sell liquor. By allowing the Rat to sell liquor may potentially increase the amount of students whom, are of age, and go into the Rat to eat and have a few drinks after class or on the weekend. Since beer fills you up faster after a few drinks, it causes people to not want to drink as much. However, with liquor, you can have 2 or 3 drinks and not have the feeling of I'm full and be able to eat some food while you are enjoying a game or watching the news, or even studying for an exam or class.

Another way that allowing the Rat to sell liquor would help the George Mason Community is that the students who live on campus would be able to walk back to their rooms safely and would not have the temptation to drunk drive home since they are in walking distance. For those who are allergic to wheat or simply do not like beer, would be more likely to not go to the Rat and instead go to Brion's Grille or one of the other local restaurants and bars that are around the Mason community to enjoy food and liquor instead of being forced to drink things that they do not want.

By allowing the Rat to be able to serve liquor again would not only increase the amount of customers that they will serve throughout the school year, it will also allow them to make more money and provide a safe drinking place for college students who are of age and would like to be able to drink and not be worried about drinking and driving or finding a way to get home. It will also be a safe environment for students on the weekends instead of going out to Fraternity parties and putting themselves in harms way.
