Release the Girls!

Dear Mattel,

You have refused to produce female action figures for the "Avatar the Last Airbender" and "Naruto" product lines. Your response to complaints has repeatedly been that female action figures do not sell. Your opinions of female actions figures are outdated and extremely sexist. We are here to tell you that we want them and WILL buy them!!

You have grossly misjudged not only how children think these days, but also the sheer age/gender range of the fans of these shows. Most Naruto fans are at least fourteen and the adult fan base is extremely large (If you'd ever been to an anime convention you would see this for yourselves). Fans of avatar range from six to fifty-six. And huge percentage of the fans of both series are female. I have also heard from many young boys in the five to ten age range that they are annoyed that they can't properly play out the Avatar adventures because a lot of the cast is missing.

We also want higher quality toys. The toys from the Avatar line were especially bad. Rubber clothing that cracks over time and facial expressions resembling a deer caught in someone's headlights do not sell well to collectors looking for figures to display on a shelf. And a huge portion of the people wanting these figures ARE collectors!

We, the undersigned, believe there is more money to be made in female action figures than you think. Please--even if you feel the need to do a limited edition test run of them--release the girls!
