We, the undersigned petitioners, request Council to cancel immediately the Judicial Inquiry into alleged conflicts of interest regarding land purchases in the City Centre and Her Worship Mayor Hazel McCallion.

We respectfully submit that:

It is wasteful to spend millions of dollars of ratepayers money on a Judicial Inquiry when the Corporation of the City of Mississauga has many pressing financial challenges; and
The alleged transgressions are minor in nature and no Member of Council is alleged to have benefitted; and
The Mayor has a long track record of selfless service to this City and to its residents and the allegations are not consistent with this record; and
The Mayor had declared on several occasions that she had a conflict of interest on matters related to the alleged events and transactions and had recused herself from Council proceedings relating to them; and
There are simpler, less costly and more appropriate methods for inquiring into alleged misconduct by Members of Council.
