I believe that mobile phones today are a great advantage to our society, for entertainment and most importantly the social aspects of communication. MP3 players are now allowed in some schools for entertainment purposes. I believe that entertainment is a good thing, but even more so communication. Its a great social tool that as I see it poses no threat. I understand that the microphone and camera features to phones may have a big influence on the restriction of phones in state schools and that the minority would use these features against school rules. But I think that the majority of students that make our schools great shouldnt be held back by this. With power comes responsibility and that if those minority are caught (through inspection of their phones or eye-witnesses with proof) should be punished with however the schools choose to deal with it such as suspension, or confiscation with the parents collecting it from the front administration office etc. I also understand that not everyone has mobile phones although a very large majority does. But this applies to MP3 players too. I actually assume that more people would have Mobile phones than MP3 players as theyre not considered to be much of a luxury of just entertainment, but a right of communication. I would really like the state schools to allow mobile phones. I realize that state schools do have to manage misuse and bad behavior, just as any school does, but also shouldnt restrict the majority of responsible, students who would follow the rules.

Summary

I think mobile phones should be allowed in all state schools to be used openly in lunch times before and after school in the schools' grounds. Mainly for communication purposes (texting and calling) and entertainment too (Pictures, movies, music etc.). If you sign this petition you agree to allow this in all state schools at least across America and Australia.
