AUTOPSY REPORTS AND PHOTOS PRIVATE RECORD

We the undersigned, have recently been made aware of a disturbing revelation, concerning the public availability, of very private information, pertaining to Medical Examiners Reports and Autopsy Pictures. These revelations have come to the forefront of public awareness since the tragic and untimely death of NASCAR Racing Legend, Dale Earnhardt.
Very few if any of us would have comprehended, that Autopsy Photos and Medical Examiners Reports are easily accessible, to any public entity, for use at their discretion. But we have found that, under current laws, in at least some states, to bereaved family can have no alternative other than to sue to stop the release of, these documents into the public domain, without a voice in deciding what information can be divulged from these documents. We find these revelations very troubling and we can see no practical reason for allowing this open door intrusion into any ones deepest sorrow. None among us would ever wish to face such a moment, when we would have to give away our deepest human emotions or have them exploited, for public consumption. We believe this could only add to our grief and prolong the time of mourning beyond that which any human should have to endure. It is for these reasons that we have united in this cause. We the undersigned are asking for a complete review of current Laws which govern privacy and we ask that Autopsy Photographs and all related materials, be listed as Confidential and Private Medical Records requiring signatures, from all concerned, in order for all such documents to become accessible to any public entity. By these words we affirm this to be our truest beliefs and with our names, we declare such to be our cause. We depend on you to protect and honor America and her citizens. WE are a Nation of Families and we need your help. Autopsy records, (all of them) should be treated as medical records. They should be private. They should be treated in the same manner as Census’ and Social Security records which are sealed for 72 years. IF and only IF you can prove direct relationship to the individual should these records be released. It is your obligation to help by persuading America to take responsibility for our country’s lack of morality and the failures in our Society. Please help us to get our country back on track. If we have so little personal freedom and privacy, what other than tyranny do we have?
