Students for a Democratic Election Process for the Nanaimo Christian School Student Council

To:  Nanaimo Christian School Officials

We, the undersigned, wish to see a Student Council at Nanaimo Christian School that is properly and democratically elected. None of this "show-up-and-you're-on" nonsense; we want candidates to be nominated for Student Council positions and campaign for the said position. We want to see at least one live debate between Presidential candidates (possibly during Chapel time) in which real issues students are concerned about can be brought up and addressed. We want to vote with anonymous ballots; not with raising hands and marking down tallies on a white board in Homeroom.







We, the undersigned, acknowledge that such a change as this would not be hard to achieve. If it is to be accomplished, students of Nanaimo Christian School could: have the opportunity to actively participate in and experience democracy in action, have their voices effectively represented, see getting elected to Student Council at NCS as a legitamate accomplishment, and take part in breaking down the barriers that represent youth voter apathy.
