NH Wildlife Mangement Unit M Antlerless Deer Permits

To:  New Hampshire Fish & Game Department

We the undersigned are concerned with the effectiveness of the Wildlife Management Unit (WMU) M antlerless deer permits. We believe that 6000 permits are a less than effective way of reducing antlerless deer numbers. Also, the 6000 permits issued in 2008 created chaos in the woods of WMU M. It brought 6000 hunters to the woods of WMU M, many of which would not have hunted there if not for the permits. These additional hunters were also able to fill their regular firearm tags bringing the potential deer kill in WMU M to 12,000.

We respectfully request that you:

1) Reduce the number of WMU M in 2009 to 3000
2) Raise the cost of the WMU M permits in 2009 to $26

or

1) Eliminate the WMU M permits and find other means of reducing the antlerless deer herd in WMU M.
