Petition to Stop the CSX Integrated Logistics Center
Sponsored in partnership by a group of concerned citizens and the Downtown Lakeland Partnership, Inc., a membership organization of businesses and individuals who work to promote our unique downtown.
The undersigned residents of the State of Florida believe that the new CSX Integrated Logistics Center (ILC) proposed for Winter Haven is an ill-conceived project that will devastate the communities of Polk County and surrounding areas. Those communities will bear the brunt of the increased freight and truck traffic while receiving questionable benefit from the project. Additionally, they will be asked to sacrifice their quality of life as well as fund MAJOR infrastructure improvements to benefit a multi-billion dollar corporation and provide commuter rail for Orlando residents.
We request that Governor Charlie Crist meet with a delegation of concerned citizens to listen to their well-supported reasons why this CSX ILC should be stopped. In addition, we request that a full Development of Regional Impact study be completed before any construction begins.
