Petition to ban Marriage of Petition-Signers against Gay Marriage

This is a satirical protest petition to place a measure on the ballot to amend the California State Constitution to ban and annul all marriages involving legal residents who have signed any petition to constitutionally ban same-sex marriages in the state of California.

In 2008, after the California Supreme Court overturned the ban on gay marriage, the conservative opposition quickly created a million signature petition to put a measure on the ballot to amend the state constitution to ban same-sex marriages in California. We believe that individuals' rights are not something that can be limited to popular opinions. Therefore, this petition will show everyone how unfair this situation is for all American citizens, let alone residents of California.

In this case, we are protecting gay rights by creating this satirical petition to show the high courts and politicians that if a simple petition is all it takes to place a minority's rights on the chopping block, then the same method would be applicable to any and all minorities, not just the gay and lesbian community. If gays can lose their personal freedoms through a public vote, then so can Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Blacks, Asians, Native Americans, Latinos, Scientologists, Atheists, Mormons, Catholics, Protestants, Lutherans, Fundamentalist Christians, etc.

If you believe that gays and lesbians should have a right to marry, please sign this petition as a form of protest against all laws that suggest minority rights can be taken away by the majority. Please pass this around like wildfire. We need over a million signatures. Thank you.
