Lieberman Should Not Run As An Independent |
To: Joe LiebermanLieberman rejects primary results:
"I called Ned Lamont and congratulated him on his success today. We've just finished the first half and the Lamont Team is ahead. In the second half, our team, Team Connecticut, is going to surge forward in November. The old politics of polarization won today. For the sake of our state, my country and my party, I cannot and will not let those results stand today," said Joe Lieberman.
We call on Lieberman to abide by the primary results and accept defeat graciously and not to run as an independent. We call on all Democratic Party members to withdraw all support for Lieberman if he runs as an independent following his primary defeat. Furthermore, we pledge to withhold our vote and our dollar for any Democratic candidate who also rejects the Connecticut Democratic primary results and continues to back Lieberman as an independent candidate. The voters of Connecticut have spoken and if Joe Lieberman as a Democrat cannot accept that, then we cannot accept him or any Democrat who supports him.
Sincerely,
