No Pledge of Allegiance Amendment

To:  President George Bush and Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott

We, the undersigned, oppose any constitutional amendment that would prohibit the deletion of "under God" from the Pledge of Allegiance. The current text of the Pledge conveys the message that it is unpatriotic not to believe in God. This is not the message we as a nation need to send, especially now.

We further support changing the Pledge of Allegiance to its original text as it was written in 1892, namely: "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation with liberty and justice for all."
