Dear Sir,

In acknowledgment of the fact that our glorious state contains a large and active community of citizens of Scottish ancestry, and in view of the many contributions to our nation and our state made by these Scots, and given the positive impact made on history, science and culture by men and women of Scottish heritage, we, the undersigned citizens of The Great State of Oregon respectfully request that you make an official declaration that, henceforth, January be celebrated in Oregon as Scottish Heritage Month.
