Petition to Halt Cellular Transmitter @ 43rd Avenue and Judah

We the undersigned petition the membership and leaders of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church to immediately withdraw the decision to place Cellular Antenna Sites in the church belltower. In 1995, the people of the neighborhood spoke out against St. Paul’s Church meeting their financial needs through imposing a technology that may have harmful impacts on its neighbors, in particular our children, and those that use and worship in the Church. We pledge to oppose this decision relentlessly. We understand the Church has financial needs – we urge you to seek other solutions and we offer help with community outreach. Cell base stations radiate many thousand times the microwave radiation of individual cell phones. There is mounting evidence that strong microwave radiation does indeed have long term negative health impacts on those living near base stations and those enduring exposure of up to 24 hours a day over extended time periods. There is data that property values go down on homes close to antenna sites. Further, the Outer Sunset neighborhood is a rare community in San Francisco with a budding Green Zone of many businesses committed to an environmental conscience, and of organic, fair trade and environmentally friendly products and practices. The placing of antenna sites in this niche neighborhood is counter to safe, green environmental principles and the continued growth of this important community movement.
