World Vote / Vote mondial: Policies of Mass Destruction / Politiques de destruction massive

(En) As a member of Humanity, we would like to express our vote, Against or For, the following policies led by the Bush administration.

We have heard the election results of the USA and we do not contest the decision, yet now we would like the people of the USA to hear the people of the 190 other Member States of the United Nations. It is because we value the democratic rights of all nations, human rights and freedoms that we wish to vote on some international policies. In relation to the policies described below, human rights and fundamental norms of justice are impacted and, hence, all of Humanity is concerned and should have a say.

(Fr) En tant que membre de l'Humanité, nous désirons exprimer notre vote, Contre ou Pour, les politiques suivantes menées par l'administration Bush.

Nous avons entendu les résultats électoraux des É.-U. et nous ne contestons pas la décision, toutefois nous aimerions maintenant que les gens des É.-U. entendent les gens des 190 autres États Membres des Nations unies. C'est parce que nous valorisons les droits démocratiques de toutes les nations, les droits et libertés de la personne humaine que nous souhaitons voter au sujet de certaines politiques internationales. En ce qui concerne les politiques décrites ci-dessous, elles ont un impact sur les droits humains et les normes fondamentales de justice et, par conséquent, toute l'Humanité est concernée et devrait avoir un droit de regard.

:: Military occupation of Iraq by the USA : including...
-- massive abuses and crimes of war;
-- dictates imposing to the Iraqi people the privatisation of their resources and services, even though there is a humanitarian crisis largely ignored by North-American media.

:: Unconditional support to Israel's occupation of Palestine : an occupation which imposes...
-- conditions that make the people's life in Palestine almost impossible;
-- the construction of a wall that forcibly takes over Palestinian land and worsens the humanitarian situation;
-- a total abandonment of the peace process.

:: Unending embargo against Cuba, denounced by the United Nations General Assembly, and that creates collective hardship for the people.

:: Support to authoritarian regimes and their grave human right violations (Ex.: torture), such as the governments of Colombia, Pakistan and many in the Middle-East.

:: Non-application of principles of justice and systematic violations of human rights during massive arrests and the detention of thousands of people, without charge!
-- Iraq : rotation of about 10 000 people, almost always innocent, and detained for weeks or months without any accusation;
-- Guantanamo Bay : about 600 people who have been submitted to a 'sentence' of 2 to 3 years of prison in difficult conditions, without rights.

:: Fear campaign with racist tendencies which divides the world in "Us" vs "Them".

:: Pressures on Canada to support a "missile defense shield" which cannot function and encourages a new arms race and the industry of war.

:: Globalization of selfishness and a savage and hypocritical economic competition :
-- one way "free trade" (even Canada is now a victim of illegal US measures);
-- Kyoto Protocol: refusal to cooperate with the world.

:: Unilateral approach which derides international law and leaves space for human rights violations, including labour and social rights, and even those established as fundamental.

-- abus massifs et crimes de guerre;
-- dictats imposant au peuple irakien la privatisation de leurs ressources et services, pendant qu'il y a pourtant une crise humanitaire largement occultée par les médias nord-américains.

:: Appui inconditionnel à l'Israël pour ses actions d'occupation de la Palestine : une occupation qui impose...
-- des conditions rendant la vie des Palestiniens-nes quasi impossible;

:: Non-application de principes de justice et violations systématiques des droits humains lors d'arrestations massives et de détentions de milliers de personnes innocentes :
-- Irak : rotation d'environ 10,000 personnes, presque toujours innocentes, détenues pendant des semaines ou des mois sans accusation;
-- Guantanamo Bay : environ 600 personnes qui ont déjà purgé une 'sentence' de 2 à 3 années de prison dans des conditions difficiles, sans droit.

:: Campagne de peur à tendance raciste qui divise le monde en « Nous » vs « Eux ».

:: Pressions sur le Canada pour appuyer un « bouclier antimissile » qui ne peut fonctionner et qui encourage une course à l'armement et l'industrie de la guerre.

:: Mondialisation de l'égoïsme et compétition économique sauvage et hypocrite : incluant...
-- « Libre-échange » à sens unique (même le Canada est victime de mesures illégales des É.-U.);
-- Protocole de Kyoto: refus de coopérer avec le monde.

:: Approche unilatéraliste qui bafoue le droit international et laisse place à des violations des droits humains, dont des droits sociaux et même de ceux déclarés fondamentaux.
